Dead Cross Release Self-titled Debut on August 4th
Dead Cross, the SoCal band featuring Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits), Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox) and Michael Crain (Retox, Festival of Dead Deer) release their self-titled debut album on Aug. 4 via Ipecac Recordings.
LISTEN TO THE NEW TRACK 'GRAVE SLAVE': https://deadcross.bandcamp.com
“'Grave Slave' is S&M for your ears,” says Lombardo. “Patton’s vocal range and intensity are on full blast throughout this entire album. This song is a two-minute example of what it's like to travel through the depths of his brain while JP, Crain and myself commandeer the vehicle. It's jarring, aggressive and unsettling. We're coming at you hardcore, but leaving you with a kiss.”
“As the song states, we can blow out the candles on the urinal cake,’” adds Pearson. “A track like this only makes complete sense in this climate... absurdity, pigs, neo-fascist authoritarianism... the American dream is alive and well. Well, when the suits and white hoods screw the planet, you get this slab.”
The band plays Riot Fest (Chicago) with more tour dates to be announced soon.
Dead Cross track list:
- Seizure and Desist
- Idiopathic
- Obedience School
- Shillelagh
- Bela Lugosi’s Dead
- Divine Filth
- Grave Slave
- The Future Has Been Cancelled
- Gag Reflex
- Church of the Motherfuckers
Welcome Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (ORL Projects) to the Ipecac Family!
We're excited to announce that we'll be releasing a series of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (At The Drive In/Mars Volta) solo albums with the first release, Sworn Virgins, available digitally on July 15.
The previously unreleased albums were recorded from 2008 to 2013, while Rodriguez-Lopez lived in Zapopan, Mexico and as well as his eventual return to El Paso. The titles will be released on a bi-weekly basis with the first spate of albums running through the end of the year. Each album will see a digital release with a limited number of physical copies (CD) available on Rodriguez-Lopez’s various live outings. Following the initial run of releases, a limited edition CD/LP box set will become available.
“The best part about having a record label is that you get to choose to work with people that you really admire,” said Ipecac's Greg Werckman. “We had all admired Omar’s work from afar and then recently got to know him up close. It was so great to find out that as talented as he is, he is an even better human being and we love having him as part of the Ipecac family. But, it seems that he has blatantly taken advantage of our friendship. Sure, we were excited to release his solo catalog... but this many titles??????? What have we gotten ourselves into?”
Rodriguez-Lopez adds, “It’s crucial in this day and age to be able to surround yourself with like minded people that you can share an ethos with. I feel grateful and fortunate enough to have found this with such amazing people: Mike, Greg, Shawn, Marc and the Ipecac family. After throwing around many different project ideas, this seemed like the best place to actually begin, on what will surely be a long lasting collaboration. I can’t think of a better home for these records or of another label crazy enough to put out this much material. The series also owes its blood to the hard work and talents of Jon Debaun and Chris Common, who diligently scouredthrough endless hard drives to find these albums and provide such stellar mixes.”
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez initial release schedule:
Sworn Virgins (July 15)
Corazones (July 29)
Blind Worms Pious Swine (August 12)
Arañas en La Sombra (August 26)
Umbrella Mistress (September 9)
El Bien Y Mal Nos Une (September 23)
Cell Phone Bikini (October 7)
Infinity Drips (October 21)
Weekly Mansions (November 4)
Zapopan (November 18)
Nom De Guerre Cabal (December 2)
Some Need It Lonely (December 16)

Kaada/Patton "Bacteria Cult" Out Now
Norwegian composer John Kaada and Mike Patton released their new album, Bacteria Cult, today. The long-awaited, second collaborative album since the 2004 release of Romances.
Mike Patton said of the pair’s reunion: “Working with John Kaada on this latest release was an honor and pure pleasure. His compositions have always resonated deeply with me and his orchestral arrangements for this project are harmonically dense and delicious! Each individual piece is so well constructed and inventively assembled that my vocal passages practically sang themselves. I’m hoping very much that we can seduce some eardrums and welcome listeners into this lush sonic ‘otherworld.’”
The eight-song, orchestral collection, which also features the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, exudes the music Ipecac has become well known for: eclectic, experimental and cinematic. Similar in feel to Fantômas’ Director’s Cut, as Kaada describes it, Bacteria Cult “dwells in the twilight zone where spooky and seductive meet.”
BACTERIA CULT TRACK LISTING:
- Red Rainbow
- Black Albino
- Peste Bubonica
- Papillon
- Dispossession
- A Burnt Out Case
- Imodium
- Fountain Gasoline

John Kaada and Mike Patton Release First Kaada/Patton Album in 12 Years, "Bacteria Cult"
Norwegian composer John Kaada and Mike Patton have partnered for Bacteria Cult, the pair’s first Kaada/Patton release since 2007’s Kaada/Patton Live DVD and the first album from the musicians since 2004’s Romances.

Each individual piece is so well constructed and inventively assembled that my vocal passages practically sang themselves. I’m hoping very much that we can seduce some eardrums and welcome listeners into this lush sonic ‘otherworld.’”
“We wanted to try new things,” explains Kaada. “Fully utilizing new technologies, combined with a large orchestra, while putting more attention towards melody and structure.”
